<- XMMS Meta-Input
News
The project is now beta. Please report any bugs and suggestions. Check back here for updates.

Update 2005/09/30: Michael Doering ported the plugin to Beep Media Player. His version is compatible with XMMS, and since I haven't updated my project in three years, you'd better have a look at his BMP Meta-Input page for recent updates.

Update 2002/07/24: Version 0.4 is out.
There was a "bug" in the esound_link player that would freeze xmms upon trying to open a infinite file (like /dev/zero or /dev/dsp). I also added the dsp_input player to play the soundcard input.

Update 2001/3/9: Quite a few people have sent feedback and patches to the plugin and I'm starting to feel very guilty not to do a thing about it. I'll release an updated version next week, I promise :-)

Update 2002/05/2: Version 0.3 is out.
This version corrects a bug which has crept somewhere this past year: The player used to die on a SIGPIPE when the user pressed the stop button or changed the playing track. But I have noticed recently that... well it doesn't die anymore and so XMMS is stuck until the player exits at the end of the track. I have no idea why this happens, but I have implemented a workaround which consists in asking the player nicely to die (with a two-handed axe nicknamed SIGKILL). That should do the trick for now, because I really dont feel like investigating the matter right now (or ever).

Update 2001/05/23: Version 0.2 is out! Yeah!
Well, what do you know! I was starting to lose hope yesterday, and today the first update arrives! The bigest improvement in version 0.2 is the extensions and magic type caching that's been implemented. Now, opening a big list of files doesn't take ages anymore :-)

Update 2001/05/22: Development on the plugin has now been on hold for more than six month. I have received patches and still have plenty of good ideas to implement, I just have too much work aside (that plus I use my free time to do other things like play Lunar on the PSX). That's why when I'll finally get back to work on it, I'll release version 1.0 and be done with it. I just can't keep open projects like this.
